Wish it, dream it, git R done! I chased my farm dream. A brand new start!

First Farm – Concession 4 where I brought my dreams to life, only to be brave enough to let them go along with my husband and a really great cow over 10 years later!

She left an impression! – First calf born on the farm.

The new yard light on this pole barn caused a ruckus on Concession 4. It was enough to raise my ire, and distill my ambition to become the best darn organic farmer I could be!

The first time I pulled calf, I was christened by afterbirth, shit and mud!

.Raising pastured poultry was a delight. Watching the birds grow and enjoy being outside brought me joy. So did hatching all kinds of birds, chickens, duck, geese, turkey, quail and guinea fowl.

Magic is alive in regenerative and organic farming. Grass-fed beef are a pleasure to grow when you work with the needs of the animal and nature. The guernsey twins and their warts reminded me to look for the magic and gave me a little more self confidence in my self- taught journey.

Lady farmers have have a unique nurture focused outlook, adding this perspective while farming along with nature was the key to my happiness. And the happiness of my livestock.

The livestock I raised on my farm helped me come to terms with infertility. They brought me joy, chaos and lessons, much like my step kids do now!

Have I mentioned I like cows? How they smell, the sounds they make, the way the saunter!

Best bull around and his offspring are unmistakable! As for the bomb squad, an all natural preventative measure resulted in some curious inspections at Farm Queen .

Some adventures leave a lasting memory and the day the neighbors bull jumped the fence still lingers. in mine .

Learning to farm with nature brought many years of joy, struggle and confidence. Some people can’t learn from reading or from other people. We need to be brave enough to make our own mistakes and live a fantastic life in spite of them. As they say in 4H, learn to do by doing.

I learned a lot from the bees. The swollen face!

Delivering the monthly CSA Subscriptions changed my business. Being one of the first to sell pastured meats on-line and through a monthly subscription was new and exciting!

Letting go of a dream, Burgundy and a husband, led me to a new beginning that changed and inspired me to never quit!

Every difficult ending offers a beautiful new beginning, mine was magical and wild. Welcome to Farm Queen!

Memories linger and sometimes bring you right back to that moment in time, and sometimes they haunt your present. The best ones bring a smile and a a few tears.

Food has taught me so many lessons, the best one is to love myself enough to choose to make the best eating choices for myself in the moment with the understanding that my choice affects me now, future me and everything in my life. I learned to love myself by making good food choices. Good food comes from the soil, the earth where we are all connected, our roots run deep and they intertwine. Your food choices can make the world a better place, it starts with loving yourself enough to nourish not only your body, but your soul.
